Job Description

American Para Professional Systems (APPS Paramedical), the nation’s largest paramedical exam provider, is looking for paramedical phlebotomy professionals to work part-time as independent contractors to perform mobile life insurance examinations and clinical blood draws. Most exams and blood draws are completed at applicants’ homes or businesses, but some are performed at our office in Warwick, RI. To learn more about our company you can visit  

Previous paramedical exam experience is strongly preferred, however extensive phlebotomy skills and experience are a must. We require at least 1 year of experience working in a lab or at medical facility where blood draws are frequent.

We are seeking candidates that can cover South County, Rhode Island, including Westerly, Wakefield, Charlestown, etc., but candidates for coverage in other parts of Rhode Island will also be considered.

Job Details: 

  • Flexible hours – Decide which hours you will be available to perform exams, but a combination of mornings and afternoons, and some Saturday morning availability, is preferred.
  • Prior life insurance exam experience is preferred, but must have extensive phlebotomy experience.
  • Ability to work with electronic devices, i.e. Tablets, is necessary.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and pleasantly with applicants.
  • Must be very reliable and highly organized.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must have dependable transportation.
  • Must have access to the internet and email.
  • Must have a cell phone.
  • Examiners are independent contractors, are paid a set fee per exam depending on the exam requirements, and issued a 1099 for tax purposes.


Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling appointments and keeping cases updated online in our case management system.
  • Taking and documenting medical histories.
  • Taking vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure & pulse).
  • Drawing blood and collecting urine samples.
  • Performing mobile EKGs (if previously trained or after training).
