The LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) delivers safe and efficient care to patients using nursing interventions. The LPN is responsible for general clinical and clerical duties associated with direct and indirect patient care. Essential Functions include giving direct nursing care and assisting with care of the patient at the direction of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Physician, Physician Assistant, or Advanced Practice Nurse; implementing the plan of care by providing direct basic nursing care in accordance with the LPN scope of practice; performing phlebotomy services; contributing to the plan of care with input from patient/family and other members of the healthcare team; administering ordered medications and treatments, within scope of care, prescribed by a Licensed Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner while using appropriate medical equipment as needed; and other duties as assigned. Education required includes a High School Degree or GED and completion of an accredited LPN Program. Certifications required include current state licensure as an LPN or LPN applicant and Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred. Experience of one year of clinical patient care in an acute care setting, long-term care facility, or physician practice is preferred. Training in EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) and completion of Basic Arrhythmia class with a passing grade on exam is required for Telemetry/Remote Telemetry units.
